What's This?

The Lakers/Clippers banner situation is easily the most amusing story headed into opening night, when the two L.A. teams will square off for Staples supremacy. At least for an evening. So, when the Clippers announced they would be covering up the Lakers’ banners and retired jerseys with posters of their own players during Clipper home games this season, Laker fans and players had something to say about it.

Current Laker Nick Young, who is about to begin his first year with the team, stated that it was a disrespectful move. Today at Clipper practice, Matt Barnes (who was a Laker for a minute but is now with the Clippers), had some choice words for Young and the Lakers.

Well, that will certainly heat things up a bit.

If anything, the blossoming rivalry between the Clippers and Lakers is good for the city of Los Angeles, as well as the NBA. And it will make for a very interesting point of conversation on opening night – and the three other times the teams will play at Staples Center this season.
