The new head coach of the Clippers was included in some of those rumored deals, and eventually was dealt to Los Angeles for a future first-round pick.
This side deal would have sent Jordan and a first-round pick to the Celtics for Garnett, but fell apart because side deals go against league rules.
But Rivers is happy it fell through, stating to ESPNLosAngeles’ Arash Markazi that Jordan is “too young and gifted to let walk out your door.”
The 24-year-old Jordan averaged 8.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game last season and is being hailed by coach Rivers as the third piece in the Clippers’ version of the big three.
