The Los Angeles Clippers were hoping to be one of the top competitors in the championship race this season. Unfortunately, the team has been struck with injuries through the opening two months. Recently, JJ Redick and Matt Barnes were both sidelined. Redick is expected to miss another 5-7 weeks, while Barnes is out for another two.

If the injuries weren’t a problem before, they sure are now. In the Clippers’ recent loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, rookie Reggie Bullock and center DeAndre Jordan also got hurt.

Bullock, per Eric Patten of, sprained his ankle two minutes into the fourth quarter of last night’s game. Dan Woike of the OC Register explains the condition Reggie was in post game:

The Clippers are yet to report the severity of Bullock’s injury. However, it is assumed that he will miss multiple weeks due to an inability to apply weight on his ankle.

Fortunately for the team, Jordan is not expected to miss games. DeAndre strained his right arch during the game, and had to have it re-taped. Coach Doc Rivers was attempting to re-enter DeAndre into the contest, however, he reconsidered his decision once he saw Jordan limping.

Patten reports that Doc believes Jordan will be “fine in the short run.” This is lucky for the Clippers, as their front line is already seen as a weak spot in the rotation. Therefore, they could not afford to lose either Jordan or Blake Griffin for extended time.

With Barnes, Redick and Bullock all out, the team is extremely thin on the wing. Therefore, it is likely the Clippers may look to add a player via free agency. Post game, Doc Rivers confirmed that the team is “going to have to look somewhere.”

Two free agents that have links to the Clippers are Marquis Daniels and Shannon Brown. Arash Markazi of ESPN LA, as well as Dan Woike brought up these suggestions:

Of the two, Daniels would fill the Clippers’ needs better than Brown. He is taller than Brown, and is able to play more minutes at small forward. This is required as Dudley is the only healthy player at that position, while Willie Green and Jamal Crawford are both available at shooting guard.

Markazi also suggested one more player for the team to pursue. Ex Laker, Sasha Vujacic:

This is my favorite of all the rumored players. Vujacic is a terrific shooter and tries extremely hard whilst on the court. He also has championship experience and is a gritty defender. The fact he already lives in LA makes the fit seem perfect.

The Clippers’ front office will be working extremely hard over the next few days, attempting to find an available player who helps the team. If a player is signed, they will need to be ready to contribute immediately.
