Only Steve Nash and Pau Gasol‘s starting spots are safe as Kobe Bryant nurses his injury, meaning three starting positions are up for grabs, Dave McMenamin reports on Twitter.

Chris Kaman, Nick Young and Wesley Johnson appear to have the inside track to win these spots, but the returning Jordan Hill along with Jodie Meeks and Jordan Farmar.

There has been a lot of scrutiny surrounding head coach Mike d’Antoni and the lack of success on defense which led to a 45-win season that was followed by a 4-game sweep by the Spurs.

With Dwight Howard skipping town it’s believed that d’Antoni will finally get to implement a high-tempo offense that he is famous for, and one that could help the Lakers become a sleeper in the Western Conference.
