News: Houston Texans Release Three Players Due to Marijuana Use
||Story last updated: at 4:50 pm
The Houston Texans released Sam Montgomery, Cierre Wood and Willie Jefferson Monday, two days after the rookie trio violated team rules at the team hotel in Kansas City.
Anonymous sources related that the release was tied to the use of marijuana.
They were inactive as the Texans lost their fifth straight game, a 17-16 affair against the Chiefs.
Houston felt the loss of Wood the heaviest after losing running backs Arian Foster and Ben Tate to injuries during the contest.
Wood was the Texans’ third running back after being undrafted out of Notre Dame.
Fullback Greg Jones figures to take over as the team’s third back.
