The Los Angeles Lakers surprised many people with their play on opening night, as they beat their cross town rivals fairly easily. The Lakers’ bench sparked an amazing fourth quarter run and the Clippers had no answer for the offensive explosion. The Lakers beat the Clippers, 116-103, led by the stellar play from Xavier Henry and Jordan Farmar.
The Lakers improved their bench over the summer, something that was on top of the front office’s agenda as last season’s bench was very unproductive. One of the names that has been surfacing around as a possible addition to the bench is Lamar Odom, but TMZ reports that Phil Jackson does not see a reunion ever happening.
Lamar Odom may have ruined his chances of EVER returning to his beloved Los Angeles Lakers … so says his ex coach and NBA legend Phil Jackson.
Jackson didn’t mince words to TMZ when we asked if he thought Lamar would ever return to the purple and gold. He said, “I think that bridge might have been burned.”
When Odom was with the Lakers, he was undoubtedly the best player of the bench and that was rewarded with a Sixth Man of the Year award. However, after being traded off the team, Odom lost his touch and slowly become just a mediocre player. In addition, Odom is dealing with a lot of troubling off the court issues and all that put together makes it nearly impossible for him to return to Los Angeles.
