UCLA News: 4-Star Wide Receiver Jaason Lewis Commits To Bruins

The class of 2015 is off to a fast start for the UCLA Bruins, who Tuesday morning received a verbal commitment from 4-star wide receiver Jaason Lewis (Ocean Lakes High School/Virginia Beach, VA). He announced via Twitter this morning.

USC News: 5-Star John ‘Juju’ Smith Commits To Trojans

The USC Trojans received a commitment from five-star safety John “Juju” Smith (Polytechnic High School/Long Beach, Calif.) Wednesday morning during ESPNU’s National Signing Day show, spurning UCLA, Oregon and Notre Dame.

Smith is rated No. 2 in the class of 2014 and stands at 6-foot-1.5, 185 pounds.

He was recruited by Tee Martin and Keith Hayward.

Smith played for Southern California power Long Beach Poly High School, going 11-2 as the No. 54-ranked team in the nation.

USC News: 5-Star DB Adoree’ Jackson Commits To Trojans

The USC Trojans watched from five-star defensive back Adoree’ Jackson (Junipero Serra High School/Gardena, Calif.) Wednesday morning during ESPNU’s National Signing Day show, spurning UCLA, Florida and LSU.

Simmons is rated No. 3 in the class of 2014 and stands at 5-foot-10, 170 pounds.

He was recruited by Tee Martin and Johnny Nansen.

Jackson played for the Southern California power Serra High School, going 13-1 as the No. 56-ranked team in the nation.

He picked off six passes and deflected eight, and made 26 tackles (11 solo), while also pulling down 1,840 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns.

UCLA News: MLB Kenny Young Commits To Bruins

The UCLA Bruins got off to a good start on National Signing Day Wednesday, receiving a commitment from MLB Kenny Young (John Curtis Christian/River Ridge, LA.), choosing the Bruins over LSU and Texas A&M.

Young is the No. 7 ranked MLB in the class of 2014 by Scout and stands at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds.

He had 262 tackles (244 solo), including 7.7 tackles per game in his high school career, adding 5.0 sacks, three interceptions and a forced fumble.

During his senior season he had 122 tackles, including 14 tackles for loss and four sacks.

Curtis High School went 10-2 and was ranked 72nd in the nation.

Coach Jim Mora’s turn on ESPNU’s National Signing Day show followed that of Brett Hundley earlier, and the coach sounded very optimistic about his recruiting class and upcoming season at UCLA.

This is about safety and wide receiver Jaleel Wadood from St. John Bosco High School, who Mora is looking to utilize much in the way he did with linebacker and running back Myles Jack.

The USC Trojans received a commitment from five-star offensive guard Damien Mama (St. John Bosco High School/Bellflower, Calif.) Wednesday morning during National Signing Day, spurning BYU and Alabama.

Mama is rated No. 2 in the class of 2014 and stands at 6-foot-4, 370 pounds.

980048He took his official visit to Los Angeles Jan. 17, and tripped to BYU two weeks later on Jan. 31.

He was recruited by Tee Martin and Johnny Nansen.

Mama played for the MaxPreps National Champions, St. John Bosco Braves and was an instrumental part in helping a historic offense put up gaudy numbers.

Update: Mama has announced that he will play one year at USC before taking his LDS mission, which will last two years. It will be followed by a decision for Mama to return to USC or play somewhere else.
