WWE RAW Recap: The Shield Break Up And No Sign Of CM Punk In Chicago

Episode #1084 from Chicago, Illinois

PROMO: Cult of Personality hits. The crowd erupts. But instead of CM Punk coming out, Chicago got Paul Heyman instead. Heyman sat cross-legged in the ring, and dropped a “Pipebomb” of his own, blaming the fans and ultimately the Undertaker for Punk’s absence. Heyman then introduced Brock Lesnar, the next challenger of the Undertaker’s streak. Lesnar said he will end ‘Taker’s streak, his walk back up the ramp was interrupted by Mark Henry. Lesnar went bananas, before clearing the announcer’s table and delivered an F-5 on Henry through the table. Very audible CM Punk chants from the crowd throughout this segment, as expected.

The Usos def. The New Age Outlaws To Become The New Tag Team Champions

  • Finish: Jay Uso frog splashed Billy Gunn.

Big E def. Cesaro via DQ

  • Finish: for the second week in a row, Jack Swagger interrupted the match and cost Cesaro a chance to “upset” the Intercontinental Champion.
  • Post-match: while the Real Americans were quarreling, Big E caught Cesaro with the Big Finish.

The Wyatt Family def. the Shield

  • Turning Point: Seth Rollins refused a tag from Dean Ambrose. Seth explained he was tired of being the peacemaker of the team to Reigns. The numbers game eventually caught up to the Shield, and Wyatt hit Ambrose with Sister Abigail for the three count. The finish of the match all occurred with Rollins watching from the ramp.

Santino Marella and NXT Emma def. Fandango and Summer Rae

  • Finish: NXT Emma forced Summer to tap out to a reverse chokehold.

Sheamus def. Christian

  • Analysis: we’ve seen this matchup way too much over the past couple weeks, therefore sucking the interest out of the match for me.With the direction this feud is heading, it could be a potential Wrestlemania match as well.
  • Post-match: Sheamus was interviewed by Renee Young backstage, Christian ambushed him.

The Bellas def. Alicia Fox and Aksana

PROMO: An interaction between Daniel Bryan and the Authority. Bryan offered that with all the times HHH has screwed him out of the title since Summerslam, he’d like to face the COO at Wrestlemania XXX. HHH re-stated that Bryan is a B+ player, and it’ll take more than a B+ player to get him to compete at ‘Mania. Stephanie said that the fans may turn on Bryan on a dime, but the only people who won’t turn on him are HHH and herself, “we made you.” Bryan refused to exit the ring after numerous requests by HHH, so Stephanie ordered Kane to come to the ring. Bryan jumped all over Kane, and had to be escorted out by a group of security guards. Very impressive of Stephanie and HHH to stay composed during this segment despite the loudest CM Punk chants of the night.

Dolph Ziggler def. Alberto Del Rio (with the Need for Speed guy [Aaron Paul] on commentary)

  • Finish: Aaron Paul jumped on the announcer’s table to distract ADR for long enough for Ziggler to hit ADR with the Zig-Zag.

HALL OF FAME INDUCTION: the late Paul Bearer is the next member of the class of 2014.

Big E def. Jack Swagger via DQ

  • Finish: Cesaro returned the favour from earlier in the night by disrupting Swagger’s match as soon as the bell rang.
  • Post-match: Cesaro had Swagger in position for the Giant Swing. Zeb Colter managed to talk Cesaro out of it and had the Real Americans hug it out.

PROMO: John Cena limped out to the ring to talk about the admiration he has for the city of Chicago, how he’s had unforgettable matches in the All State Arena and that he started his career in the arena, etc. The Wyatts joined Cena on the Titantron, Bray essentially said he will end the empire that Cena has built for himself these last 12 years when they meet at Wrestlemania.

PROMO: Alexander Rusev is introduced by his female mouthpiece. He said some things on a podium in Bulgarian which I don’t understand.

MAIN EVENT: Daniel Bryan def. Batista via DQ

  • Finish: The Authority and Kane trotted down to ringside near the end of the match. Randy Orton jumped in to attack Bryan as he was nearing victory, Batista speared Bryan, HHH followed that up with a Pedigree. The Authority stood over a fallen Bryan as RAW went off the air, stop me if you’ve seen that ending before.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: No CM Punk return in his hometown for those of you wondering.

News: WWE Threatens To Sue AAA Over Use Of Sin Cara Gimmick

By May Sin Cara expects to be able to use the gimmick.

WWE News: John Cena’s Knee Injury Not As Serious As Thought

john-cena-faceThe John Cena stretcher job was a planned segment and was a part of the RAW script last night, putting an end to the rumors that Cena was badly injured.

Prior to the segment the stretcher was placed at the front of the entrance ramp.

His knee tweak may actually not be a complete sell though, as many people backstage felt that it was a legitimate bump. However, it is nowhere near as serious as many might have believed it to be. It was a great sell by Cena.

WWE News: Jim Ross Talks On WrestleMania XXX, Batista, Randy Orton

Jim_RossJim Ross updated his Q&A section, providing thoughts on last night’s Elimination Chamber and why he thinks fans should stop relying on the WWE to please them.

Fans were clearly against Batista and Randy Orton at Elimination Chamber, and a main event at WrestleMania XXX featuring just them two sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

Good ‘ol JR had an opinion on it as well:

“I expect some intriguing, creative changes to occur in WWE on the road to WrestleMania and they could start tonight on RAW.”

He also feels that the WWE does listen to its fans and that they should not worry, and if they are, just shut the program off already.

“I think that WWE listens and will react accordingly. How could any one NOT hear what we all hear? They can’t. Just hang around and be patient or turnoff the shows and wait until things are to your liking.”

Of course fans would love to see JR call WrestleMania, and apparently so would he.

Of course, why wouldn’t I? What viable reason would I not want to participate in the biggest event of the year and an event that I’ve contributed to for years?”

WWE Rumors: Will There Be A Title Change At RAW Tonight?

WWE News: Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts Has Cancerous Tumor

maxresdefaultJake “The Snake” Roberts has a cancerous tumor behind his knee according to the legendary wrestler, who also says that it is slowly growing into his muscle, which will require emergency surgery to remove the growth.

He noticed the tumor behind his knee, the size of a half-dollar last month, prompting him to get it tested immediately, receiving the news Friday that tests came back positive for cancer.

Roberts will undergo surgery Tuesday morning, then will take a few weeks off before returning to Jersey Championship Wrestling on March 14.

Cancer is no match for Roberts, especially if the devil hasn’t defeated him, he said to TMZ:

If the devil can’t defeat me, cancer doesn’t stand a chance in hell! Pray for sick children who face this horrible disease ’cause The Snake will be just fine.”

The WWE is set to induct Roberts into its Hall of Fame in April.
